Get ready for an unforgettable day as we venture into the heart of Sapa’s hidden gems, far from the usual tourist paths. At around 09:00, our journey begins as your local guide from Ha Giang Trekking Tour greets you at your hotel, and we set off for a short drive to our trek’s starting point.
As we leave the bustling town behind, the landscape begins to unfold its secrets. Our path takes us uphill on a rugged trail, winding through a narrow valley nestled between towering mountains. For the next two hours, we’ll trek through the villages of Sau Chua and Sa Seng, home to the Black Hmong people. Here, you’ll get a rare glimpse into their daily lives—an authentic experience that only a few have the privilege to witness.
The trek itself is as rewarding as the destination. The breathtaking views will make every step worthwhile, from terraced rice fields to mist-shrouded peaks. As we reach a Hmong village, you’ll see how their lifestyle has evolved, transitioning from traditional swidden farming to more settled practices. Yet, traces of their past remain, evident in the simple homes and ancient stone walls that surround them.
Lunchtime brings another unique experience. We’ll pause in the village, sharing a meal that reflects the simplicity and richness of local life. It’s not just a lunch break—it’s a moment to connect with the land and its people.
Afternoon Discovery
After recharging, we continue our trek, ascending towards Den Thang mountain. The climb is gentle but steady, and within an hour, we arrive at Hang Da Village, perched at 1,800 meters. The panoramic views of the Muong Hoa Valley are nothing short of spectacular—a scene that will stay with you long after you’ve left Sapa.
Here, we take time to explore the village, visiting local homes and learning about the Hmong culture. Each story, each tradition adds another layer to your understanding of this remarkable community.
As we make our way along an elevated path, the Muong Hoa Valley reveals itself in all its glory. The half-hour walk to Hau Chu Ngai, another Black Hmong village, is filled with photo opportunities—each corner offering a new perspective of the stunning landscape.
Our journey then takes us downhill through vast rice paddies, the golden terraces stretching out as far as the eye can see. After an hour, we reach Pho Village, nestled in the heart of Hau Thao Commune. Here, our adventure concludes as we are picked up and driven back to Sapa.
